Making folders and uploading files

Before we make any folders, it's very important to remember that if you move a document from one folder to another, you need to update any links you've made to your site.

Go to your "Administrative" block on the lower left margin. Click on "files".

Now we can make some folders. Click on "Make a folder".

In order to avoid the issue of moving files and links changing, we can make files specific to each unit.

Here you can see the folder just made. We can continue to make other folders specific to each topic in this manner: for handouts, audio files, etc.

The easiest way for students to download documents is when they are a .pdf, this way they don't have to have the specific software on their computer in order to have access to it.

1. Open your Powerpoint presentation, and open "File".

2. Select "Save as..."

Now there are two versions of the same document. We will upload the ".PDF" version to MyMitty. The same method can be used for all of your documents.

Now we are ready to upload some documents. Open your "Powerpoints" folder.

The Powerpoint is now in the Unit 01 "Powerpoints" folder (here called "Parent folder"). All other documents can be uploaded using this same method.

You can also upload a whole folder of materials. Go to your hard drive and locate the folder you would like to upload.

Click on this drop down menu and select "Compress".

Now you should see the .zip form of your folder.

Now, go to your "File" link and click "Upload a file".

Navigate your hard drive to find the .zip format of your folder.

Click "Upload this file".

Click "Unzip".

Click "OK" on the next screen.

You will see your folder in your file now. You can delete the "_MACOSX" & the .zip version of your folder.
